Initiate an Approval in Projects

This guide explains how to start the approval process within a project after a workflow stage is complete.

When to Initiate an Approval

You should initiate an approval when:

  • The current stage is complete and ready for review.
  • All required steps in the workflow are configured.
  • Approvers need to be notified to begin reviewing.

To Initiate an Approval

Permissions Required

Only Project Owners and Project Managers can initiate the approval process.

  1. On the completed workflow stage, click the Begin Stage Approvals button.
  2. Click Begin Approval for the first available step.
  3. Confirm that the correct users are assigned.
  4. (Optional): Check the Request for assignment to be completed by a specific date box.
  5. Select a due date.
  6. Add a message for approvers.
  7. Click Send Out for Approval.
